Yes! Patience is the key'

 "Whatever the situation, patience pays"
O you who believe, seek help through patience and prayers. God is with the steadfast and with those who patiently preserve (As-Sabreen) [2:153]
.
The Quranic idiom As-Sabreen has been loosely translated as 'The Patient Ones' patience signifying an inert state of being - whereas it is not that - it is a highly active state of being. Edward William Lane's Arabic-English lexicon explains that out of terms that emanate from root words of ''Sabr [Suad Bae Rae]'' is "Saburatu" the ballast of a ship. The ballast holds the ship steady, thus it is far from being inert, it is rather a powerful element. Haqqani in his commentary (Tafsir) defines it as following 'Reason' and restraining 'Fear, Anger & Desire'.
.
The Quranic verse in focus may not apply to an individual only, it is much more applicable to society as a whole, a group of believers in given time and space. Shaping of an individual in Islamic scheme of things is for the collective good of the society. It holds the promise of help provided it is sought through patience/self-restraint and prayer.
.
It is obvious that the verse is an advisory pertaining to situations which may not hold promise of delivering for the collective good of the society. It could be akin to circumstances, where the mechanism of governance is far from being ideal. And needs to be changed for the collective good of the society.
.
In the pursuit of establishing an ideal system of governance, great obstacles and hardships will have to be faced, as the vested interests will put all the obstacles they manage in aborting the effort. In the face of such heavy odds, steadfastness borne of courage of conviction pays. This strengthens the all important 'Will' to resist and succeed, whatever the odds. No matter, what way obstructionists choose to follow, the righteous path should be adhered to for maximum gain out of the struggle.
